For the Love
of Design

Steven Heller (Author, Designer, and Educator) commissioned me to design the cover and interior spreads for his new collection of essays entitled For The Love of Design. Heller challenged me to design a cover that showed an appreciation for graphic design without being too trendy. During the rounds of critiques, he challenged me to expand my inspiration to different eras of graphic design and think about what are the essential elements of communication.

The end result is a design system that references the creative process and our ability as designers to adapt our process to the times we live in. I chose to use the motif of die line marks to reference the analog paste up creative process and juxtapose that with a super modern display typeface to ultimately suggest the timeless nature of graphic design.
